- Ms. Bechtold, a native of Pittsburgh, has appeared in recital throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Holland, and Switzerland. An advocate of contemporary music, she has worked with noted composers George Crumb, John Harbison, and Alvin Lucier, and has premiered works on the Princeton Composers' Series. Ms. Bechtold earned her Master's degree at the Mannes College of Music, where she was a student of Felix Galimir. Prior to that, she received a double-degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and Tufts University in Boston. Festival appearances include the Pacific Music Festival, the Scotia Festival, the Spoleto Festivals, and the Kneisel Hall Festival. She has recorded with the Absolute Ensemble and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, and can be heard on the Mode Records CD of John Cage's "Fourteen." She is on the faculty of Greenwich House Music School in New York City.
